The teaching is excellent, you move onto real clients within the first couple of weeks so the experience you gain is far more valuable, and there are real world job opportunities offered to you if you work hard and dedicate yourself to the course.
Like anything, it’s what you put into it as an individual, but if you’re willing to work hard and are passionate about barbering, this is 100% the course for you.
I also travelled from Bristol for the course which was totally manageable once I figured out the train schedules so don’t let that put you off. Most people on our course travelled at least an hour to get there.

As a recently graduated student successfully gaining my NVQ Level 2 barbering, studying here was one of the best decisions I have made. I already had some knowledge of cutting hair and practice on family members which got me thinking, 'I could do this for a living'. However, being in that undecided state of mind about could it be a career or is it just my hobby, Alessandro offered me to come down for a taster day. This involved talking about the what the course entails, history of barbering, a demo and getting you involved in your first cut. Coming away from that day, I knew instantly this is what I wanted to do. I had a dream, I chased it and now I am living the life that makes me happy
During the course, you spend 8 of the 9 weeks hands on, cutting 4-5 clients hair every single day.
Alessandro and Ben are amazing educators, they are so supportive, knowledgeable and very clear with explaining the processes if your unsure.
Overall, it was the best experience and if you are thinking about studying here, you won't regret it!!!!

As a recently passed student, I have to give the highest of praise to the course! The level of knowledge both Ben and Al were able to provide is top quality and I learned a lot about barbering from them. The course facilities are ideal for learning the craft quickly through live customer haircuts almost from the get go and really provides that feeling of being in a working barbershop unlike many other courses. Would highly recommend the course for anyone looking to get into barbering!

I just finished my 11 weeks nvq level 2 course, and i want to say that this guys are the best. I started with 0 knowledge and after 11 weeks I’m confident with any men’s haircut.
The trainers have a lot of passion and they make you feel like you are in a family.
We had a lot of laughs and fun.
If you want to become a proper barber I really recommend these guys.

There are no entry requirements, previous skills or qualifications needed to join the course. From our Theory & initial cutting on head blocks, set your barbering career goals, learn about your tools, develop your basic barbering techniques and understand shape. Learn how to cut hair using basic techniques on training head blocks and watch demos from industry experts; deconstruct the steps of haircuts; completion of theoretical coursework and exams.
Transition haircuts from head blocks onto real live clients – focus on developing and maintaining advanced techniques such as basic guards work, scissor-over-comb, clipper work, fading, layering and texturising. Also, work on facial hair and traditional wet shaving. Throughout the training, you will receive complete teacher support with common mistakes and challenges. At this stage, students will be assessed on their haircuts to be completed to standards sufficient to earn your BSW NVQ Level 2 barber qualification.
Become proficient in haircuts, learn tricks of the trade, develop commercial skills and personalise haircuts that will improve your effectiveness at work; teacher support with refining cutting techniques; focus on finishing and cutting speed. Students will be assessed on the overall quality of their haircuts that must be passed to a BSW standard. You will undertake additional practice on advanced and unorthodox haircuts you would find inside a barbershop. Students will also be trained on career development skills such as photography, content creation, online profile building and marketing themselves to prospective employers and barbershops when applying for a job.
For the daytime course, at the end of week 11, students will participate in a class competition where they will present their best haircut against peers and be rated. This will be judged by an industry-leading barber. The outcomes of this final stage will determine your final grade for your BSW in Barbering NVQ diploma.

Our course is 12 weeks. This is the longest course in Wales with others advertising you’ll be shop ready within 8/9 weeks - this is not possible.
From our experience, we have witnessed many students participating in these 8/9 weeks courses or college courses and not receiving adequate training. They then have to re-invest in another course to get up to speed.
This is a career change, not a course for your hobby, if you invest wisely from the start, you won’t need to buy twice.
